THE SIXTH FORM
In the Sixth Form academic studies will always remain the central purpose but we want students to take full advantage of school life and ensure that these two final school years are a time for broadening horizons and learning self discipline. It is a time too when students can still have all the pastoral care and support from a dedicated sixth form team who will subtly monitor progress. It also has to be said that in the increased competition for university places good grades are not enough. Students need to prove commitment in a manner that goes beyond A2 by creating and inspiring others – performing plays, organising societies, setting up expeditions, writing for magazines, fundraising for a cause to which they are committed. The list is as long as their imagination. Under the leadership of Ian Williamson sixth formers are prepared for the transition from school life to prospective university students.
The Sixth Form life revolves around the Graham Building. Set in centre of the campus, you cannot but be impressed by this light airy building. There’s a magnificent “double decker” common room – space to socialise and study. On one side a kitchen and on the other a television and games room, a quiet room is close by, for those who want to work with others rather than in the House.
