Huge congratulations go to Wrekin College student Andy Liu who has worked consistently hard and gained exceptional results in his A level Maths, Andy averaged 99% across 18 modules. The teen has astounded staff with his prowess, especially as he took the exams a year early.
Andy achieved four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Additional Further Mathematics, and now hopes to go onto Cambridge once he completes a further year of studies at Wrekin.
Headmaster Tim Firth said his results were the best he’d seen in 30 years of teaching.
“Andy is the real thing as a mathematician and there are not many of those to the pound,” Mr Firth explained.
“It is hard enough, and very prestigious academically, to secure an A* at Further Maths A level, which is much harder than Maths, but Andy has superseded such achievement by miles and at a remarkably young age.
“I have taught in schools since 1987 and Andy's exam results are the best I've ever seen. To average 99% in 18 Maths papers is phenomenal.
“The fact that he is so modest about his talent and expects so much of himself makes him a superb role model at Wrekin. We are very proud of him and also of the Maths teachers who have done so much to help shape him here.”
