The weekend of 7 and 8 October saw fifteen Fourth Form girls travel to Llangollen for their Bronze Practice Expedition. Right from the start they were bright and enthusiastic.
On arrival at Llangollen they split up into groups and set out for a walk to practise navigation and map-work skills. The weather was very wet and they learnt quickly the importance of staying warm, dry, and clean. On their return they all cooked an evening meal with some of them being more adventurous than others. The next day the weather was much better as they set off for a full day’s walk on the Llangollen hills.
The groups got on very well together and other than loud renditions of their respective House Singing Competition songs they had minimum impact on the countryside!
Classroom on Mondays will now concentrate on planning a Sunday walk near Church Stretton next term. All in all a very successful and safe weekend.
