The core subjects for GCSE are English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Pupils also select four subjects chosen from Business Studies, Art, Design Technology, Drama, French, Geography, German, History, ICT, Music, Physical Education and Spanish. All pupils also follow supplementary courses in Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) through their tutorial programme.
Although all pupils study all three sciences; different courses are available for pupils of differing abilities. The most able scientists can take separate GCSEs in the three sciences; while double award Science (known as 'Trilogy Science') combines all three sciences into two GCSE qualifications.
