The core subjects for GCSE are English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Pupils also select four subjects chosen from Business Studies, Art, Design Technology, Drama, French, Geography, German, History, ICT, Music, Physical Education and Spanish. The more able mathematicians may also follow a GCSE Statistics course. All pupils also follow supplementary courses in PSHE.
Although all pupils study all three sciences, different courses are available for pupils of differing abilities. The most able scientists can take separate GCSEs in the three sciences; while double and single award Science (which come as two and one GCSEs respectively) include a combination of all three sciences.
