Debut Recitalists' Concert

This concert is an opportunity for pupils to perform who perhaps have never performed in public before, or alternatively are new to the school and have not performed for a Wrekin audience. This year 24 pupils took to the stage. All instrument families were represented during the evening including a guest appearance by Mrs Crone who played the harp on stage for the first time. Well done everybody.

Soirée at Six: Ensembles

An excellent musical evening with performances from the Double Reed, Brass, Trumpet, Lads, Flute and Saxophone groups. It is a great opportunity for our smaller ensembles to share the limelight and perform. Well done to all who took part.

Charity Christmas Concert

A wonderful event with performances from The Old Hall Chapel Choir, The Wrekin Chapel Choir, Jackfield Elcock Reisen Band and The Telfordaires. A mix of secular music was performed in the first half and the second half was a broad selection of Christmas music  with a rousing finalé of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells. A happy and festive start to the Christmas season. The Charity supported this year was the KIP project in Wellington and £550 was raised.

Prep Schools' Singing Day

We welcomed local preparatory schools to a singing workshop lead by Mr Adrian Lucas - Director of Choral Studies for the RSCM. Pupils had a fun and intensive day of music making, learning four Christmas songs from scratch. Pupils were mixed into three groups named after reindeer to echo the Christmas theme and enjoyed workshops with singing teachers from Wrekin College and Mr Lucas. The day finished with an excellent performance of the pieces the pupils had learnt to an appreciative audience of parents.

Christmas Concert

Wrekin College Music presented a Christmas Concert in the Memorial Hall and Chapel where we were treated to a wonderful range of Christmas music from the Wrekin College Orchestra and Concert Band, the Jazz Band, the Lancaster band and choir, the Soul Band, the saxophone and brass groups, Chapel Choir, and the Lad’s Group with Themba Mvula. The evening ended with a rousing choral finale, complete with audience participation, of Rudoloph the red nosed Reindeer led by the choirs.
