	Golden Moments Wrekin College has had outstanding gymnastics success this term. Emily Goring, pictured, took the Senior title at the West Midlands Championship adding it to her Senior England Championship win. Georgina Hockenhull was outstanding at the espoire age group winning the West Midlands Junior section overall, taking three out of the four gold medals. Emily Dyer (First Form) took silver place in the West Midlands Level 3 Junior Competition. Head coach Christine Still was delighted with the results, a testament to the dedication and work by both the gymnasts and coaches.
	House Singing Adjudicator, Andrew Lock, declared Roslyn House winners of the hotly contested House Singing Competition. The Roslyn girls won the coveted trophy with a wonderful rendition of 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and an impressive reworking of 'When the Night Feels My Song' (Bedovin Soundclash) as a part song. 	Wrekin on the River No longer content with indoor rowing, Wrekin College pupils can now be seen practising their strokes along the River Severn. This activity is run as a Senior Option for boys and girls alike.
	Wrekin College Swimming Club Swimming is going from strength to strength at Wrekin College. Thanks to the efforts of Jim Mostynand Streamline, Wrekin has a brand new ASA affiliated swimming club. This means Wrekin can compete as a school in county and national competitions. First off the block has been Third Form pupil, Olivia who been selected to swim at the England Schools Swimming Championships. The Club is also open to swimmers outside Wrekin College. 	Fabulous Results Wrekin pupils are celebrating another successful year of GCSE and A Level results. 50% of all A levels taken were either an A or B Grade and the overall pass rate was 99%. Sixteen of our students achieved 3 or more A grades at A level. GCSE results were equally impressive with 93% of pupils gaining at least 5 A-C grades or better. 	Sibling Success The Shanklin family, from Wellington, are celebrating sibling exam success this morning. Two years after her brother, Alex, scooped 11 As in his GCSEs, sister, Pippa Shanklin has also achieved top marks with 11 As – 22 As between them. Alex also performed particularly well gaining four A grade at A level, he will be going up to Downing College, Cambridge to read Veterinary Science. Pip is pictured with Matthew Duffield who also achieved 11 As.
	NEW A Level for September 2009 Drama and Theatre Studies A Level will be introduced from September 2009. This new course offers students the opportunity to pursue their skills in a range of practical drama elements such as acting and directing. 	Cambridge Success Two Wrekin College students have been celebrating the news of places at Cambridge University. Alex Shanklin, currently Head Boy, goes forward with an outstanding GCSE background of 11 A*s to read Veterinary Science; and Fleur Clarke a place to read English. We are delighted for both of these high achieving students; each will represent Wrekin in a very distinguished way at Cambridge University.
