The aim of the Physical Education Department at Wrekin College is to enable every pupil to participate in a wide range of sporting and physical activities. The subject provides pupils with the necessary skills to pursue sport throughout life, at whatever level, from recreation to excellence.

The department is also responsible for delivering health education, personal and social education and fostering aesthetic awareness. It encourages pupils to develop analytical skills, helping them to evaluate their own and others’ work. Pupils learn to work independently and collaboratively and in doing so develop their verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
At Wrekin College all pupils have the opportunity to participate in a broad and balanced sports programme and have the option to study PE at GCSE, A Level and BTEC Sport (extended certificate). The contribution that Physical Education makes to the curriculum goes far beyond creating a balanced education. It helps to shape the school's ethos and provides a focus for all pupils to be involved and to develop a lasting interest and enthusiasm for sport.
