Wrekin Sport continues apace, with some great netball and cross-country successes at the weekend.
Wrekin College competed in the Shropshire County Amateur Athletics Cross-Country Championships. The 'A' team of Henry Williams (finishing 2nd out of 35), Nathan Cox (6th), and Luca Justice (8th) won the gold medal in the Under 13 Boys’ Race, whilst our 'B' Team of Ned Owen (11th), Charlie Sweeney (13th) and Johnnie Bruckshaw (15th) were the forth best team.
In the Under 13 Girls’ Race, Sinead O'Neill ran well and was 11th out of 37.
In the Under 15 Boys’ Race, the team of Reuben Crombie, Joe Manton, Caleb Adams and Jacob Crossley ran really well but came away without a medal.
The Under 17 team of Sophia Malpass (2nd), Gina Rowlinson (6th), Lizzie Benbow and Tess Sanders ran brilliantly to clinch the gold medal despite some close competition.
Henry, Nathan, Sophia and Gina have all been selected to represent Shropshire in the National Inter-County Championships and Ruby Richards has been picked for Staffordshire, coming home with a gold medal representing the Under 15 Wolverhampton and Bilston Girls’ team.
Henry, Nathan, Luca, Sophia, Gina and Lizzie collected their gold medals from the Headmaster in Chapel on Monday morning.
The Lancaster Under 12 A and B Netball teams represented Wrekin on Saturday against Hereford Cathedral School. Many parents enjoyed the matches, with both teams winning convincingly. The Under 13s faced Hereford's ‘Giants’ but were unable to secure a win.
Fleur Nicholas, Amelie Owen, Sabrina Edwards-Pereira, Lulu Dean and Isabelle Honicke were selected for the Under 12s Shropshire County Netball squad.
