Sports report 25 September


In their first match of the season, Wrekin College played Ellesmere College at home last Wednesday. With the doubles matches drawing at four-all, it was up to Marsha Laksono and Henning Stoffel to win their singles matches against Ellesmere's best players to take victory 6-4 overall. 


The First XV had a solid 17-5 win against Shrewsbury College. It was a good all round performance by an improving team, building towards their cup match this Wednesday.

The Seconds beat King Edward's School, Aston 34-5 with a solid physical defence and some impressive attacking play.

The Under 15s had their first win of the season against Charlton School, running out 29-5 victors.


The First team had a clean sweep in the Telford Sixth Form Tournament to win the competition comfortably. Then on Thursday, they faced The Grange School from Cheshire, in the first round of the National Independent Schools’ Cup, with an impressive victory 72-24 taking them in to the second round.


Again the Cross-country team performed well in the Telford Schools’ League. Henry Williams and Reuben Crombie were both second again in their races. Nathan Cox also had an impressive third place in his race.


The Lancaster boys enjoyed their first fixtures of the season with victories over Packwood Haugh School.


Girls First and Second XI played Shrewsbury School this week and enjoyed open, exciting games, but both went down 2-1. The teams are to be commended for their improvement and for their spirited play.

The Lancaster hockey teams made an impressive start. The Under 13s won 4-2 and the Under 12s had a very impressive 11-0 win over Lucton School.
