Thought for the Day - MotivationMon 13 Feb 2017
Motivation is defined as a reason for acting in a certain way. To me, motivation is the drive that makes you want to better yourself each day. It is the drive that gets you out of bed to go on to achieve something that day.
Motivation is key in all aspects of life: it plays a significant role in academic work. Motivation helps people to work hard and to reach their full potential.
Outside of academic work, it is the drive to go and do things when no one else wants to or when it is easier not to. For example, going to the gym when you could simply sit in House on your phone.
Those who are most successful are always those who are the most motivated. For a successful business you have to work longer and harder than everyone else: this relies on large amounts of motivation.
Motivation is closely tied to resilience. Those who can stay motivated in the face of defeat, will learn from their mistakes and will go on to improve.
Motivation is the drive to dig deep when things get tough and not to give up, no matter what life throws at you.
I would like to end with this quote from the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger: “You can't climb the ladder of success, with your hands in your pocket.”
