Despite bitter conditions last week, many fixtures were played.
An Epic game on Wednesday saw the heavyweights of Birchfield School play our Lancaster Under 13A. Running out to a 27- 0 lead with tries from the pack bursting through and the back line searing holes out wide, the game looked won at half time. However, a spirited performance from Birchfield School and an excellent kicking game meant a last minute try left the scores 39 all.
The Under 14s lost their Cup pool game to Church Stretton School, leaving the next game with Marches School as a must win!
On Wednesday the Wrekin team lost to King Edward’s School Birmingham and Shrewsbury School.
The Squash team won 4-2 v King Edward’s School Birmingham. Despite injuries, Harrison Crombie and Rhys Eades made their debuts and won!
The senior options team played out a good 3-3 draw with Lucton School.
The boys' senior hockey team had their first match of the season. Although they lost out 6-0 to William Brookes School, there were some promising passages of play.
Another busy week, culminating in the West Midlands Finals on Sunday for the first and Under 16 teams. The first team beat Shrewsbury School and Adams Grammar School, the seconds won against Adams Grammar but lost against Shrewsbury School. The Under 15s won against Shrewsbury School and the highlight of the day was the Under 13s victory 21-8, against Shrewsbury School's Under 14s.
Congratulations to the first team and their captain Lucy Asson for an outstanding display on Sunday at the West Midlands finals. They now go forward to the National Finals in March. The Under 16 team also had some good performances, with a young squad showing great potential for the future.
