The First XI despite suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of Princethorpe College on Wednesday, played with spirit and commitment against a very good team who had done extensive pre-season training.
The Under 14s enjoyed an open, exciting match against Wolverhampton Grammar School which ended in a 1-1 draw. This was their first eleven-a-side game and they played with skill and energy.
A great opening ‘run out’ for members of the Cross Country team in the first of four meetings in the Telford & Wrekin Schools League.
Most races had between 50 to 80 runners. Everybody ran well, particular mention should go to Henry Williams who came second in the Year 7 race, Luca Justice Fifth in Year 8 race, Reuben Crombie Second in the Year 9 boys' race, Ross Corbett, Fifth and Caleb Adams, Sixth in the Year 10/11 boys' race, Sophia Malpass Sixth and Gina Rowlinson Seventh in the Year10/11 Girls race.
The Second XV (mostly Fifth Form), had a good win against Charlton School on Wednesday 38-10 with Jacob Kethro (SA exchange) scoring a couple of tries.
Against King Edward's School, Aston on Saturday the Under 15A had a close game losing 10-8. Mr Easter reports that all players made a fine effort, particularly Dan Gough and Josh Harrison who were most enthusiastic. The Under 14A had a most convincing 41-14 Win. Men of the match were Reuben Crombie and Tom Redwood. The tackle of match was by recently arrived student Carlos Echevarria on his debut for the team.
Holly Townson became the West Midland (Open Age) 5k Open Water Champion, which qualified her for National 5K Open Water Championships where she finished 14th overall against some of the UK's elite international open water competitors. She has been selected to represent Shropshire at the National Inter County Championships in October.
