SPORTS RESULTS

It was another busy week for many Wrekin teams in a number of matches last week.

On Wednesday our newly formed first team netball squad took part in the county tournament at home. In ?a round-robin format, Wrekin swept aside all opposition to win convincingly and now go forward to the Regional Finals in January.

In girls' football on Wednesday, a six?-a side football team played their first ever fixture at TCAT.  They showed great skill and emerged 3-1 winners. The highlight of which was the third goal by Riccarda.

In swimming Ella Townson swam in the Midlands long course championship in the 100m butterfly and swam a personal best to come 13th in the 15 and under age group.

In rugby the 1st XV beat Shrewsbury School on Wednesday at home 10-7. This was a fantastic win and a great start to the second half of the season with a huge commitment in defence.

In fencing Wrekin won 37-25 against v Shrewsbury School? Club with Sophie Shindler making her debut and fencing brilliantly.

In badminton the girls faced Moreton Hall for the first time. This was an excellent fixture which ended in a close 6-8 defeat. We hope to reverse the result when we play them again in December.

The Lancaster football teams faced Oswestry School. A close game for the A team saw them lose out 5-4 but the B team continued their winning streak with a 7-1 win. A hat trick for Tom Cowell and a brace for Elliot Dolphin and Davinder Gill secured a good win.

The hockey teams had some good results this week including the 1sts winning 4-0 and the Under 13s 8-2 against Oswestry School. The U15s lost out in a close game 2-1.? The 2nd XI played out  3-3 draw with Lucton on Wednesday.? The U14s took part in the County tournament against some very good teams. Despite valiant efforts in all matches, they missed out on qualification for the Midlands Zone Finals.
