Beyond the Label: Intentional Inclusion Conference

Beyond the Label: Intentional Inclusion Conference

A one-day conference for anyone supporting 4–18 year old pupils with special educational needs (SEND) in the classroom. Expect research-informed insight, practical workshops, and ideas you can implement immediately.

About this event

Beyond the Label: Intentional Inclusion is open to independent and state primary and secondary schools. It is the second Beyond the Label Conference of the year, following a successful event organised by More House School (Frensham) and Charterhouse School earlier in March 2026..

Designed for teachers, trainee teachers, ECTs, TAs, SENCOs and school leaders, the day blends keynote learning with a choice of seminars and practical workshops. It offers an invaluable CPD opportunity, alongside professional networking opportunities, at an affordable and accessible price.

You’ll leave with strategies, approaches and context-based reflection to support pupils with a range of SEND needs, and the confidence, rooted in academic research, to take what you’ve learned straight back into your setting.

Keynote speaker

Professor Joni Holmes: Learning Beyond the Label: Research and Practice

Associate Dean for Research, University of East Anglia, Senior Affiliated Scientist, MRC Cognition & Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge.

Joni will present highly impactful current research which is changing the way we look at inclusion in schools. Drawing on studies carried out in UK schools, she highlights the impact of the Whole Class Mapping Tool (developed by More House School) which empowers teachers to identify pupils’ needs across four key cognitive domains and apply meaningful, low‑cost strategies that are already making a measurable difference in the classroom.

What to expect:

  • Research-informed keynote insights
  • A choice of seminars led by experts from More House School, specialists in inclusion
  • Practical strategies and approaches you can use immediately
  • Context-based reflection to support inclusive practice across different settings
  • A valuable opportunity to connect with like-minded colleagues across sectors
  • Opportunity to join the More House School Training and Outreach Network to keep in touch and hear about new opportunities, training, resources and more
