Wrekin College is nestled in the beautiful medieval market town of Wellington, in the county of Shropshire, located in the heart of the United Kingdom. Despite its rural location, Wrekin College is perfectly placed between major UK cities, ideal not just for transport, but also for cultural opportunities while staying here.

Our countryside campus offers space, safety and stunning views to the nearby Shropshire Hill, all whilst maintaining fast access to urban hubs. The nearest railway station is just two minutes walk from Wrekin College, providing fast transport links across the country.

Transfers two and from all major airports can be provided.

Birmingham Airport - 1 hour
Manchester and Liverpool airports - 1.5 hours
London - 2 hours by train.

Wrekin Experience Programme - Short-Term Immersion

More than a summer course; this is real British boarding school life.

The Wrekin International Experience Programme is a well-established and highly successful pathway for international pupils seeking full immersion in British education and culture for a shorter period of time. Many pupils who join the programme choose to continue their studies at Wrekin on a full-time basis after completing their experience.

From their very first day, pupils become fully integrated members of the Wrekin community academically, socially and culturally, studying alongside British pupils and experiencing authentic boarding school life.

My life at Wrekin

Kaja left Wrekin in 2021 after joining us for Sixth Form from Poland. She studied Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Drama as well as Polish for which she was awarded A*, A*, A*, A*, A* at A level. She also completed an EPQ for which she was also awarded an A*.

After finishing Wrekin she went on to study Neuroscience at UCL as well as joining the International World Summit Awards network as Youth Ambassador, collecting an award for the Girls Global Ready Program, and has become a scholar of Clinton Global Initiative University.

Guardianship for International Pupils

All international boarding pupils at wrekin college are required to have a UK‑resident guardian aged 25 or over.

During term time, your child’s welfare is in the care of the school. At other times, such as exeats, half‑terms, holidays, or if your child is unwell, the guardian provides essential support, care and a safe home‑from‑home environment.

A nominated guardian acts as your child’s UK emergency contact and may care for them for short periods (under 28 consecutive days). They must be formally appointed by you, your child’s school, or a recognised guardianship organisation.

To ensure the highest safeguarding standards, nominated guardians cannot be close relatives, private foster carers, school staff, or a parent or legal guardian holding a Parent of a Child Student visa.

The BSA is the largest association of boarding schools in the world; their Certified Guardian Scheme is anassurance of professional quality and provides assurance to Wrekin College that they are dealing with Education Guardians who have the highest standards in the safeguarding of children, safer recruitment, and training of staff and host families, and careful liaison with parents and College.

AEGIS is a national body for monitoring and regulating the welfare of international students and provides accreditation of Educational Guardianship Organisations in line with the National Minimum Standards for Boarding. A list of accredited guardians can be found on the AEGIS website.

There is no legal requirement that a guardianship organisation must be AEGIS or BSA accredited but it is considered best practice and as such Wrekin College expects that all pupils will have a guardian who meets the expectation of this policy. If a none-accredited Guardian is appointed, this may slow down your visa process and application to Wrekin College

INFORMATION ABOUT OUR EDUCATIONAL AGENTS

Wrekin College is committed to the UK Agent Quality Framework (AQF) to maintain the highest standards of agent management, ensuring the UK remains a leading study destination for international pupils.

Wrekin accepts admissions enquiries from parents directly, and through our trusted recruitment agencies.

Wrekin may pay a commission on fees for a pupil who has their first contact with the school through a recruitment agency.

Should any pupil or their family have a complaint regarding one of our recruitment agents, please contact us via admissions@wrekincollege.com.

We aim to acknowledge and respond to all complaints within five working days. If we are unable to reach a resolution within this period, the matter will be escalated to the relevant senior member of staff. Families will be kept informed and updated throughout the complaints process.
