Mr steve green

welcome from the headmaster

a vibrant, family-first community

Thank you for taking the time to explore Wrekin College. We understand how important the search for the right school is, and we are delighted that our community has caught your attention. Whether you are just beginning your research or are ready to visit us in Shropshire, we are here to help you discover and experience what I firmly believe is one of the finest schools in the country.

Wrekin College possesses an extra-special feeling that you sense the moment you arrive. It is a vibrant, family-first day and boarding community founded on strong, values-led principles, and situated on a spectacularly beautiful campus in a particularly lovely part of central England. What makes Wrekin stand out from other schools is our deeply grounded, inclusive ethos. We welcome a diverse intake, while being  relentlessly ambitious, always completely committed to bringing the absolute best out of every single individual.

Wrekin is not a place of privilege, but rather that we are all privileged to be part of Wrekin. Our school is built upon a community of hard-working families who want the very best for their children and who are willing to make sacrifices to give them this start in life. Here, we offer a seamless, all-through education from Reception right through to the Sixth Form. We want our pupils to truly embrace the journey of their education, growing naturally into happy, confident, and mature young adults.

Outstanding academic achievement is the cornerstone, but a world-class education stretches far beyond the classroom. Wrekin is the school for the all-rounder. With nationally exceptional music and sport, alongside a rich array of creative and co-curricular opportunities, this is a place where children can discover what they are brilliant at, try new things, and ‘do it all’ without having to choose.

Crucially, we prepare our pupils to be genuinely world-ready. At the heart of this is our pioneering Business School, which serves as a hub for enterprise, apprenticeships, future career pathways and hands-on entrepreneurship. We don't just focus on traditional higher education; we actively teach the skills and attitudes that are essential for success, develop leaders, and engage with the wider business community to prepare our pupils for the modern workforce.

My vision for Wrekin is to maintain our cherished traditions while looking dynamically to the future. To do this, we will share what is brilliant about Wrekin with the wider community. We plan to use our incredible facilities to grow our local partnerships, in turn providing our pupils with valuable, real-world working opportunities. We will continue to grow our pupil numbers, but we will strictly preserve our intimate scale. Wrekin will always remain a school where every single child is known, valued, and cared for.

I am committed to listening closely to our community. By elevating the pupil voice and working closely with parents and the Old Wrekinian Association, we will regularly come together to talk about our progress and collaborate on further improving our school. Underpinning all of this is a staff body with an unmatched passion for helping children and young people succeed.

Ultimately, school should be a place of immense happiness. My promise to you is that we will bring joy, have fun, work hard, and strive to be the absolute best we can be. I warmly invite you to visit us, experience our unique atmosphere first-hand, and join us on this extraordinary journey.

Warmest regards,

Steve Green
