Pathways

discovering opportunities

Finding your own pathway

At Wrekin College, we believe that every student’s pathway after they leave us is unique to that individual, and we work hard with our students to ensure that they find the best pathway for them.

For many, that still remains university, but increasingly we are seeing students embrace degree apprenticeships, apprenticeships, internships, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

Whatever the pathway chosen, students are given full support to ensure it is the right pathway for them, and that they are given the best opportunity to fully access and achieve within that pathway.

Careers

future paths

Our Futures team, a key part of our Sixth Form structure, help and support all students with their own personal pathway. Each week we hold academic lectures which profile a huge range of careers, to deepen students' understanding of the variety of options and pathways available to them. We also hold a large careers festival in Lower Sixth which teaches students valuable employment skills and also involves a host of local and national businesses who visit school to take part in workshops, panel discussions, Q and A sessions, and a careers fair.

ALUMNI

Old Wrekinian Association

We are fortunate to have a thriving and active alumni body, the Old Wrekinian Association, made up of previous generations of Wrekinians with a wealth of knowledge and contacts. The OWA is actively involved in school life and there are opportunities to hear from OWs as to the path they chose, and how they got there, as well as pair up students with OWs for mentoring, work experience and ongoing support.
