University Pathways

The Next Step

When the time comes to think about leaving Wrekin College, students are informed, and encouraged to think about, the wide range of options available to them. Most still choose the university route, the first step of which is completing their UCAS form.

Our Director of Sixth Form, Head of Futures, as well as academic staff and students’ own tutors, are all on hand to offer advice and guidance on choosing the right universities and courses to apply to. Once those decisions have been made, there is plentiful support with references, and writing personal statements to give our students the best possible options to get their first-choice offers from their universities of choice.

For Oxbridge candidates, there are additional support programmes to help students cope with and prepare for the rigorous academic entry standards.

Each year students leave Wrekin for a variety of universities, many to their first choice. In 2024 we had students gain places at a range of Russell Group universities including Durham, Imperial College London, UCL, and Oxford University as well as universities across the globe such as University of Toronto and Milan.
