The original building that would become The Old Hall School (now Wrekin Prep) was constructed by Edward Forester as a family residence in Wellington.
It remained a private home for nearly 300 years.

Official founding of The Old Hall School, now known as Wrekin Prep.
It is recognised today as the oldest prep school in Shropshire.
1880
Wrekin College was founded by Sir John Bayley under its original name, Wellington College.
Established with a philosophy focused on individual attention and holistic development.
1920
The estate was sold to Reverend Percy Warrington and renamed Wrekin College.
1943–1952
The Reverend Canon Guy Pentreath served as Headmaster, becoming one of the school’s most notable leaders.
17 March 1967
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited Wrekin College.
She was presented with a bound copy of A Brief History of Wrekin College and a cricket bat for her sons.
2006
A major milestone: The Old Hall School moved from its historic building on Limekiln Lane to purpose-built, modern facilities on the Wrekin College campus.
The two schools officially joined under one educational trust, the Wrekin Old Hall Trust.
2025
The Old Hall School was renamed Wrekin Prep to reflect its unified identity within the Wrekin College family.
Wrekin College became a fully integrated school educating children aged 4 to 18 across Wrekin Prep, Wrekin Senior, and Wrekin Sixth.
