Wrekin College offers a truly bespoke Sixth Form experience
We provide students with support, guidance and challenge, whilst equipping them for life beyond the classroom.

a pathway to success
Where ambition meets opportunity
The Sixth Form is an important and distinctive part of Wrekin. Academically, students specialise, choosing subjects, including A levels and BTECs, they enjoy and are good at – and which will help them on their way to their chosen university courses, apprenticeships, and careers.
Wrekin has combined the best elements of a traditional boarding ethos and those of a Sixth Form College to create a unique Sixth Form experience that offers a real stepping stone to an exciting and bright future. Whether the next step after Wrekin is university, apprenticeship, internship, employment, entrepreneurship or beyond, Wrekin has the expertise to advise and assist.
sixth life
In Sixth Form, students enjoy greater independence, often take on leadership roles, and benefit from dedicated spaces like the Sixth Form Centre for socialising and events. They have access to a range of academic enrichment opportunities, including work experience, international exchanges, and the option to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). With quiet study areas, expert support, and opportunities to explore their interests, Wrekin Sixth Formers are well prepared for life beyond school.
Our School
At Wrekin, education is about more than academic success—it’s about personal growth and transformation. Our curriculum and co-curricular opportunities are designed to challenge, inspire, and support each pupil on their individual journey. We believe success is not about comparison, but about helping every pupil discover and become their best self.

Social Life
Our Sixth Form Centre is at the heart of our Year 12 and 13 social life. Relocated and updated in 2018, this is a dedicated space for relaxing, socialising and working, exclusively for Sixth Formers. There are various Sixth Form only social nights throughout the year, including our popular Pizza and Prep nights, and other social events organised by Director of Sixth Form, Mr Platford.

Academic
At Wrekin, Sixth Form students are supported to become independent learners, with small class sizes, dedicated tutors, and a wide choice of A Level and BTEC subjects tailored to future aspirations. Our Target Grade system, regular feedback, and strong teacher-student relationships help students stay motivated, balanced, and focused on progress. Alongside this, a rich academic enrichment programme—including workshops, lectures, debates, and trips—encourages curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning beyond the classroom.

Academic Co curricular
At Wrekin College, academic life goes beyond the classroom with a rich co-curricular programme that sparks curiosity, debate, and real-world learning. From the prestigious Academic Poster Conference and lively Debating Club to global Model United Nations and tailored study support, students develop critical thinking, research, and communication skills. Our vibrant activities, including mentorship, enrichment programmes like Square Circle, and a culture of academic excellence, prepare every student to thrive both now and in the future.
Futures
Education at Wrekin goes beyond exam results—it's about preparing students to thrive in life beyond school. Through our Futures programme, Sixth Formers receive tailored support for university, apprenticeships, employment, or entrepreneurship. With enhanced UCAS guidance, leadership opportunities, and lifelong connections through the Old Wrekinian Association, our students leave ready to make an impact.
