HR and Payroll Officer

We are seeking a HR and Payroll Officer to provide professional, responsive and effective HR support across the school. The HR and Payroll Officer will assist with a wide range of day-to-day people matters, HR administration, recruitment and payroll processes. The postholder will support the Head of Human Resources in all HR related matters.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supporting end-to-end recruitment activity, including advertising roles, coordinating shortlisting and interviews, and ensuring a positive candidate experience
  • Managing onboarding processes, including pre-employment checks, contracts, and induction coordination in line with safer recruitment requirements
  • Processing employee lifecycle changes such as new starters, leavers, and contract variations, ensuring accuracy across systems and records
  • Acting as a first point of contact for HR queries via shared inboxes, responding promptly and escalating where appropriate
  • Providing administrative support on low-level employee relations matters, including sickness absence and routine casework
  • Prepare contractual documentation, including contract variation letters, and update employee records as required
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and supporting reporting and compliance requirements
  • Assisting with wider People initiatives and policy updates
  • Offer guidance to HR Information System (HRIS) users on how to navigate the system, input data correctly, generate reports, and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Contribute to the creation of user guides, documentation, and training materials to support effective use of HR/Payroll systems.
  • Support with the administration of the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Extract workforce data and reports from the HRIS System.
  • Support the maintenance of the Single Central Record (SCR) and associated safeguarding records.
  • Provide accurate and timely employee data and support monthly payroll processing
  • Validate payroll information against contracts, authorised forms and supporting documentation
  • Supporting payroll processes by ensuring accurate and timely submissions and processing of employee data and changes

Mobile Maintenance Assistant

To provide skilled technical support in the upkeep and safe operation of the College’s Estate.

The post-holder is expected to provide a comprehensive repair and maintenance service for systems, plant and equipment in all buildings and grounds occupied and operated by the College. As a skilled maintenance tradesperson, you will be expected to work on your own initiative within your relevant trade area – plumbing, carpentry or electrical and as a generic tradesperson across other trades as and when required. You will be expected to work with semi-skilled trades, Facilities Assistants and Grounds staff when appropriate.

The objectives and purpose of this post are:

  • The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the system, plant and equipment forming the College’s estate. To undertake specific diagnostic, maintenance and repair tasks across a wide range of interconnected plant and equipment and building fabric.
  • The post holder will be working to established procedures, good practice, organizational and

    broad occupation policies. Often working to measured standards and procedures which may

    require additional specific training.

  •  A key element of the post is generic work. The post-holder will have a registered trade (e.g.

    electrical, mechanical, plumbing, H&V or carpentry) this may be by appropriate qualification,

    full apprenticeship or in some circumstances experience. However, he/she will be asked to

    work outside of this trade from time to time. Full training will be given, and the post holder will

    not be asked to work outside his/her competencies.

  •  Other key elements of the post is cross-departmental working. The post is based within the

    facilities team, however, from time to time and depending upon work priorities the post holder

    may be asked to work within another department. Full training will be given, and the post hold-

    er will not be asked to work outside his/her competencies.
