Class 5W Reach for the Stars

Class 5W encourage everyone to reach for the stars through their astronaut-themed assembly

This morning, Year 5 took to the stage with an assembly all about their work on biographies and the extraordinary lives of astronauts they have been researching. The pupils shared a wealth of fascinating facts about space travel, from the trailblazing achievements of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, to the remarkable career of John Glenn, who became the oldest person to travel into orbit.

The class explored what makes an astronaut’s life so inspiring; courage, curiosity, and a willingness to reach beyond what seems possible. They connected these ideas to their own lives, celebrating the importance of aiming high and believing in themselves.

In a heartwarming finale, each pupil reflected on something they were most proud of. From acts of kindness and friendship to sporting accomplishments and personal goals such as public speaking, it was clear that 5W have plenty to celebrate. Their message was simple yet powerful: keep reaching for the stars.
