Prestigious Scholarship Awarded to Elliot
Congratulations to Elliot (U6) for being awarded a prestigious sponsorship from Cunard after he finishes his A levels at Wrekin. Elliot was awarded one of only five places on the sponsorship scheme, beating thousands of applicants to the place, after working hard throughout the two year process, and being supported by Wrekin staff as well as his family.
After finishing his studies at Wrekin Elliot will study for his degree in Nautical Science. He will spend six months of each year land-based at either Warsash Maritime College (part of Solent University) or Fleetwood Maritime College. The other six months of each year he will be based on one of Cunard's ships, and could be at sea anywhere in the world!
After completing his degree Elliot will qualify as a 3rd Deck Officer working as part of a team on the bridge, navigating the cruise liners, managing health and safety, attending formal events and hosting guest tables along with other duties. He has the chance to move through the ranks, and ultimately towards being a Captain.
His degree will be fully sponsored by Cunard for all tuition fees, accommodation and travel being covered, as well as receiving a salary.
