Sports Round-up
At Old Hall we pride ourselves on having a fantastic sporting curriculum, ensuring all pupils gain valuable skills while enjoying a varied and engaging sporting programme.
Five of our swimmers competed in the Regional stage for the English Schools Relay Swimming Championships last week. The gala included freestyle relays and medley relays with our swimmers performing fantastically well in both. In our category, both relay teams came 5th overall, just narrowly missing out on the national qualification. An impressive achievement for our swimmers in a highly competitive field.
On Fridays, our Year 5 and 6 girls take on tag rugby, building agility, teamwork, and confidence in a fast-paced, non-contact game. Meanwhile, our Year 5 and 6 boys played netball, enhancing coordination, communication, and strategic thinking.
Year 5 and 6 girls enjoyed an afternoon of House Netball. The standard was hard and team work and good skills were on show. It was a close-fought contest particularly between the top two Houses. Final results were 1st Wenlock, 2nd Ercall, 3rd Leighton and 4th Cressage.
Year 5 have loved playing badminton, improving their agility and coordination The fast-paced game has kept them engaged, whether mastering smashes or perfecting drop shots. Playing singles and doubles has boosted their confidence and sportsmanship, making badminton a fun and valuable part of their curriculum.
Year 3 have been enjoying pickleball, a fast-paced and exciting sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. The game has helped them develop hand-eye coordination. With enthusiasm and energy, they’ve embraced the challenge, improving their skills while having fun on the court.
