Year 2 Discover Local Landmarks on Geography Walk

Pupils developed observation and map-reading skills while discovering how local places support the community

Year 2 had a fantastic time exploring the Wrekin campus and the surrounding area on a local area walk. As part of their geography studies, pupils observed different types of dwellings and identified both human and physical features in the local environment.

Using a map, the children followed a planned route, spotting key landmarks and discussing how locations such as the train station and places of worship contribute to the life and support of the community.

The walk provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to connect classroom learning to the world around them, developing observation skills, map-reading abilities, and an understanding of their local environment in a practical, engaging way.
