Year 2 Sports Morning
During the PE and Games sessions in Lower School we focus on developing the core fundamentals of agility, balance and coordination. As they move into Year 2 we introduce their skills into small-sided games to develop their competitive game awareness.
Year 2 showcased their Hockey and Football skills to their parents who came to watch a PE lesson. They demonstrated skills and drills they have been learning in both Hockey and Football before playing small-sided competitive games. It was a thoroughly enjoyable session and the parents were thrilled to be able to come and watch their children take part.
Carrying on with the focus on games and ball skills, we have started bench ball. A big focus of all our sessions is on team work, cooperation and a sense of fair play whether they have won or lost. At the end of every game, the teams come together to give 'three cheers' for the other team and to shake hands with their opponent.
This grounding will serve Year 2 well as they move into Year 3 in the Upper School and begin playing competitive fixtures against other schools.
