Year 2 visit Arthog Outreach Centre
Year 2 visited Arthog Outreach Centre on Wednesday 8th May! They were split into three teams and took it in turns to complete three challenges throughout the day.
Bush Trial and Survival Challenge
We went on a woodland walk navigating over a fallen tree trunk rope bridge. Listening to birdsong Year 2 distinguished a robin, thrush and sparrow as well as spotting a huge pigeon! Finally the teams arrived at camp where they learnt how to use a flint to create fire. The reward was a delicious drink of hot chocolate once we had boiled the water over our campfire.
Orienteering and Teamwork Challenge
Could Year 2 work together to get the tennis ball from one end of the guttering pieces into the bucket? Teamwork makes the dream work, and after the fourth attempt the group succeeded!
Climbing Wall Challenge
Always a firm favourite! After being harnessed and given safety helmets the pupils worked in teams to support and help each other climb the wall. Whether they were trying it for the first time, or they reached the top it was a new challenge and showed great resilience and determination. The sounds of "wow" echoed round the sports hall as the children saw the climbing walls.
An absolutely fantastic day for Year 2 with some fabulous experiences!
