Inspiration and Foundation
Lancaster Learning
Pupils in year 7 and 8 participate in our pioneering Lancaster Learning programme that inspires learning and a desire for knowledge. We believe that, instead of beginning the GCSE curriculum two years early with the assumption of boosted grades, our programme can have benefits on inspiring pupils to love learning.
These two years are filled with enriching educational activities, showing the true potential of learning, inspiring a desire for knowledge and teaching them how to learn for themselves.
The purpose of Lancaster Learning is to create:
- Resilient, independent learners.
- Learners who feel responsible for their own learning and rely on finding solutions, in the first instance, by themselves.
- Learners who can reflect on their learning regularly, to adapt and improve.
- Learners who can apply what they learn to a new situation, because they are used to finding a way through by themselves already.
We believe they then enter the GCSE curriculum in Year 9 with a strong foundation for achievement that will ensure they meet their own personal best through GCSE, A level or BTEC and beyond school.
