Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Training complete

The weekend saw 32 fourth form pupils undertaking their Bronze DofE Practice expedition in North Wales. They departed early on Saturday morning for the trip to Llandegla, north of Llangollen, where they started their walk accompanied by a member of staff for the first legs.

All five groups performed well, travelling upwards of 13km across hilly terrain to reach their campsite under the shadow of Valle Crucis Abbey. A good night's rest allowed them to start early on Sunday morning for another long day's walking to the world famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct where they finished and returned to Wrekin College.

The weather was very favourable and all the groups demonstrated determination and skill with their maps and compasses, with minimal geographic embarrassment.

They all now have the qualifying expedition across the Long Mynd in June to look forward to!
