Future Ready Day
Our Fifth Form pupils came together to develop a range of practical skills to help prepare them for life beyond the classroom during a 'Future Ready' day.
The day brought together various activities designed to encourage independent thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration.
In the Food Tech room, pupils put their culinary skills to the test by making soup and scones. Elsewhere, a sustainability challenge encouraged them to think about how items left behind at festivals could be recycled and repurposed, giving unwanted objects a new lease of life. Communication was another key focus. Pupils worked through a chain of people to pass on a design, discovering the importance of clear communication in ensuring the final outcome matched the original idea. A separate engineering-style challenge saw teams design and build a roller-coaster for a ping-pong ball using straws, putting their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving to the test.
Alongside these practical challenges, pupils took part in first aid and an external finance workshop, gaining useful knowledge and skills for everyday life.
From managing money and communicating effectively to thinking sustainably and working together, the day allowed pupils to develop skills that will serve them well in the years ahead.
