Lower Sixth Geographers Explore the Jurassic Coast

Our Lower Sixth Geography students recently travelled to Dorset for an exciting fieldwork visit, giving them the opportunity to experience some of the UK's most iconic coastal landscapes first-hand.

Throughout the trip, students visited a range of locations along the Jurassic Coast, including Lyme Regis, Studland Bay, Chesil Beach, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. These unique environments provided the perfect outdoor classroom for developing practical geographical skills and investigating the dynamic processes that shape our coastline.

During the visit, students carried out a variety of fieldwork activities, including coastal management surveys, sand dune profiling, beach investigations and landform studies. Collecting and analysing real-world data allowed them to deepen their understanding of key geographical concepts while developing valuable research and enquiry skills that will support their A Level studies.

The trip also provided an excellent opportunity for students to see how the theories studied in the classroom are applied in real-life settings, bringing geography to life through hands-on learning and exploration.

A fantastic few days of fieldwork, teamwork and discovery, the visit was both an enjoyable and invaluable experience for all involved.
