Mrs Williams recommends- Finding Our Inner Strength

Following our fantastic residential and trips week, we have been blown away by the resilience and determination shown by our pupils. Stepping out of your comfort zone isn't easy, but as these stories show, the greatest adventures happen when we keep going, even when things get a little 'wobbly.'

For our Younger Readers

"The Magical Yet" by Angela DiTerlizzi

This is a firm favorite for teaching a Growth Mindset. We all have a "Magical Yet" that travels with us. It’s the voice that reminds us that while we might not be able to tie our laces, ride a bike, or climb that climbing wall just yet, with practice and persistence, we will. A perfect follow-up for children who tried something brand new a few weeks ago.

For Developing Reader

"After the Fall" by Dan Santat

We all know the story of Humpty Dumpty, but we rarely hear about what happened after he was put back together. This beautifully illustrated book follows Humpty as he faces his newfound fear of heights. It’s a poignant story about how resilience isn’t just about getting back up—it’s about finding the courage to fly again, even when you’re scared.

For Confident Readers

"Wild Journey" by A. M. Dassu

Fresh for 2025/26, this collection of short adventure stories is perfect for Year 5 and 6. It follows five children across different countries—from the heat of Egypt to the mountains of France—as they face unexpected challenges. These stories mirror the spirit of our residentials: navigating the unknown, working as a team, and discovering that we are much tougher than we realize.
