New Headmaster for Wrekin College

Wrekin College will welcome Steve Green as its new Headmaster from September 2026.

Steve is currently Head of the Senior School at Queen’s College Taunton, a co-educational 1-18 day and boarding school, where he previously served as Deputy Head (Academic) after joining the school in 2018. As part of his broad leadership remit, he chairs the school’s Education and Safeguarding Committee and is responsible for High Performance Learning.

Having begun his teaching career in 2004, Steve has built extensive leadership experience across both the maintained and independent sectors. Earlier roles included Head of Sixth Form at The Kings of Wessex Academy and Vice Principal at Holyrood Academy, Somerset. He later became the Head at Axe Valley Academy in Devon before moving to Queen’s College, where he has played a central role in shaping its direction and contributing widely to the life of the school community.

Outside school, Steve enjoys a range of sporting and outdoor pursuits including cricket, golf and distance running. He is also a keen walker of the family’s Golden Retrievers and enjoys wing foiling whenever he can.

Speaking about his appointment, Steve said: “I am honoured to be joining Wrekin College and feel very privileged to have the opportunity to lead such a distinctive and ambitious school.

“During my visits, I was immediately struck by the warmth of the community, the wonderful facilities and the strong sense of shared purpose among staff and pupils.”

“Wrekin is clearly a school with high aspirations and a deep sense of what it means to be a family school, and I very much look forward to working with pupils, staff, parents and governors to build on its many strengths.”

Dr Emma Crawford, Chair of Governors, said: “The Governors are delighted that Steve will be joining Wrekin College as Headmaster.”

“He brings with him a wealth of experience, thoughtful leadership and a genuine commitment to the all-round development of young people.”

“We are confident that he will lead Wrekin with energy and clarity of purpose, building on our strong traditions while continuing to develop the school for the future.”

Outside the classroom, Steve enjoys a range of sporting and outdoor pursuits including cricket, golf, distance running and wing foiling.

He will be joined at Wrekin by his wife Kate and their two teenage children.
