Cricket
A mixed Girls team played an Under 15 Shropshire County team on Friday evening. Despite the match being abandoned due to rain, the team managed to put out an exceptional performance. Notable mentions go to Grace and Alice for brilliant bowling, and to Shaunte for their most technical and composed batting performances to date.
The Boys Under 17s had an outstanding win on Tuesday against Newcastle Under Lyme School, winning by 30 runs. They now face Manchester Grammar School on Tuesday in the Plate Quarter Final.
On Wednesday three teams were in action against Old Swinford. The 1st XI scored 157 due to a brilliant partnership from Dan and Alex. Will was the pick of the batters scoring 47. In reply Wrekin bowled the opposition all out for 16, a terrific effort. The Under 15 and 14 teams also won, putting in some great performances.
The Under 14s won their County Cup game on Friday against Bridgnorth Endowed. Olly was the pick of the batters, scoring a well made 50.
On Friday the 1st XI had a tough game against an excellent Shropshire team, and the Under 15s were on for a good game, but the weather beat them.
Athletics
Last Monday, 65 pupils from Lancaster to Fourth Form took part in the Shropshire Cup semifinals at Oakengates. Three teams qualified for the Finals, producing some outstanding performances.
On Saturday, three pupils qualified to represent Shropshire at the Mason Trophy. The pick of the competition was Sydney. She finished third, and produced a new PB in the Hurdles with a time of 11.87secs. Sydney was the only athlete from Shropshire to place top three, and was also part of the relay team that finished second. She has now qualified for the English Schools Finals in July.
