Sports Report

In both Netball and Rugby National Cup games last week, Wrekin performed superbly against tough opposition. Both teams now progress to the fourth round!

Netball

The U19s faced a strong Solihull School team in the third round, taking it down to the wire with a 36-34 victory.

The team also took part in the first England Schools Netball league competition, which included top two schools, Millfield and Berkhamstead.  A narrow loss to Oakham and a draw against North London Collegiate School, was good prep for the Regional Finals.

Rugby

Another sound performance from the 1st team against Shrewsbury School, culminating in a 30-14 win. A dominant first half, resilient defence, and a top class kicking and counter attack game lead to a well deserved win.

The U15s had an outstanding win against Sandbach School. They won the game 32-5 producing a terrific team performance.

Hockey

Fantastic news this week in hockey - Herbie has been selected for England U16s. We wish him the best of luck in the cycle ahead and look forward to hearing more about his first caps.

The Girls U12B and U13B had a win and a loss against Shrewsbury High. The Girls U14 and U15s both took convincing wins over Lucton School on Wednesday.

On Saturday the Boys 1st team played against Market Drayton 1sts, despite an inspired effort they lost 6-4 in a great game of hockey.

The Girls U18 team competed at Midlands finals and finished runners up, giving some great performances throughout the tournament.

Basketball

The basketball team had a tough encounter with Shrewsbury School, losing out 65-34, which was a learning curve for games to come.
