Sports Report
Last week on the sporting front, the following fixtures took place..
Hockey
In Hockey, the Under 14 Girls beat Shrewsbury School 7-0, and Oswestry 7-0 at the Shropshire County round. They now progress to the county final. A mention goes to Niamh for some well taken goals from centre back!
On Wednesday, the Under 18 Girls competed in the annual Wrekin 7s tournament. Both Wrekin teams showed determination and great spirit in face of very strong opposition. Also on Wednesday, the Under 14s narrowly lost 3-2 and the Under 15s lost 1-0 to Shrewsbury School. The Under 16s put in strong performances in their county finals on Thursday, they were undefeated on the day and progress to the midlands finals later in the term at Nottingham.
This week we also had an Under 18 Boys fixture against a full strength Bridgnorth Men’s 1st team under the floodlights on Wednesday evening. They played some excellent hockey, narrowly losing 5-3, which is a fantastic result against a very strong adult team. A special mention to Third Form pupil Barnaby for making a debut appearance for the Under 18s.
Football
The Under 13A lost to Wolverhampton Grammar School in the National Cup. It was a good test against strong opposition, Oliver was man of the match.
Rugby
Some tough cup outings for the Under 14s and Under 15s as expected, but both teams are progressing well. However, the 1st XV dominated Bishop Heber in the National Vase, winning 42-12.
Netball
A very busy schedule saw the Under 13s losing out to a strong Edgbaston High School in the National Cup. The Under 16s won comfortably against Newport Girls and the Under 14s beat Shrewsbury High School. The 1st team took on RGS Worcester in the National Cup, showing their class by winning 33-20. At the Worcester University Tournament, the 1sts remained undefeated all day against Clubs, Universities, and a Welsh side to lift the trophy. A totally dominant display saw Millie awarded Mid-court Player of the Tournament, a fantastic acheivement for Millie and the team!
