In Wrekin sport, before the half term break...

Gymnastics, student Mabelle took part of the Senior British Team Championships 2024. Her and her team came 1st place, winning gold medals and the prestigious shield, and have now gained the title of top gymnastics club in the United Kingdom.

Hockey

During half term, the Under 18 Boys League Hockey team played two matches against Shrewsbury & Lichfield Hockey Club. The fixture against Shrewsbury HC was a 3-0 win for the boys. They played some good hockey and showed resilience in defence throughout. The goals coming from Max, Charlie and Mr Coope.

They had their second fixture against Lichfield Hockey Club. The team played some excellent hockey, especially on the counter attack. They walked away with a 6-0 win, goals scored by Charlie, Mr Morris, Mr Lambert, Mr Walker and two goals for Mr Etteridge. The boys sit firmly top of the league with four wins from four. A massive thank you to all the students and staff who gave up some of their holiday time to fulfill these fixtures.

Netball

In the week before half-term, teams took part in both National Cup and County Finals.  The Under 15s produced a stunning performance to overcome Bablake and move to the third round of the National Cup. The Under 16s lost out 32-31 to a “Golden Goal” to a strong King Edwards Birmingham team in their second round National Cup game. In atrocious conditions, the 1st VII team swept aside all opposition in the Shropshire Under 19 County Championships to take them through to the West Midlands Finals, joining the Under 16s and Under 14s.

Rugby

The Under 15s won the inaugural County Ten a side festival, hosted here in some awful weather. In a game based on an athletic skill set as well as rugby background, the squad overcame a number of local rivals, remaining undefeated.

Football

Before half-term, the Under 13Bs were unlucky to lose 2-1 in a close game vs Prestfelde. In difficult conditions the boys played some good football and could have easily won the game on another day.

The Under 13D team had a superb win against Prestfelde with excellent performances in awful conditions. Shoutouts to Arthur and Navin for standout efforts, but overall a fantastic team win.
