Sports Report

Sadly, the weather took its toll on many outdoor fixtures last week…

Football

Arran has been selected again after a training camp at St. George’s Park over the Christmas break to play football for the England Under 16 Independent Schools team. A great achievement to get selected for an International fixture.

Cross Country

Recent results at the Shropshire Championships included a win for Chloe in the Under 15 Girls and fourth place for Finn in the Boys event. Third place for Summer in the Under 13s and third place for Amelia, in the Under 17 Girls. Six Wrekin pupils have been chosen to represent Shropshire in the upcoming Inter-Counties event.

Badminton

The senior badminton team faced Shrewsbury School for the second time this year. The training they have undergone since the last fixture had clearly made a huge difference, and the scorelines were incredibly tight in a large number of games. Shrewsbury won the fixture but our side should feel proud of a strong performance which gives a great foundation to build upon.

Volleyball

On Wednesday, Wrekin hosted a 3-way Volleyball fixture against Ellesmere and Oswestry. Our team won both matches comfortably and are now really starting to play intelligent and well-organised volleyball.

Netball

A clean sweep with convincing score lines for the Under 12s, Under 13s, Under 14s and Under 16s indoors on Saturday against Abraham Darby. This was good preparation for the Under 13 and 16 team fit their upcoming National Bowl semifinals.
