Sports Round-up
Hockey
The Under 11 Boys' and Girls' hockey teams were out in action against Packwood this Wednesday. Both matches were end-to-end competitive games with all players working hard on formations. It was a great opportunity to get in some competitive practice before they headed off to the Under 11 County Hockey Tournament.
The U11 Boys' and Girls' teams played in the County Hockey Tournament. Congratulation to our Under 11 Boys' Hockey Team who are County Champions!
Competing against schools across Shropshire, they played excellent hockey to win the final and take home the gold medal. The boys' competition consisted of four schools and so they played a round robin tournament. They played well throughout the afternoon and it was clear they were the dominant side at the Tournament. It was good opportunity to be able to rotate players into different positions. They won all three matches to progress through as County Champions into the Regional rounds in March. We are very proud of them and and look forward to seeing how they fair against schools out of the area.
Meanwhile, the girls had a tough afternoon, needing to qualify in the top two in their group to progress through to the semi-finals. They placed second in the group and face Prestfelde in the semi-finals. It was a great game and the girls gave everything they had but unfortunately were narrowly beaten 1-0. After the disappointment of not qualifying for Regionals, they faced Moreton Hall for the 3rd and 4th play off. They picked themselves up and played fantastically to secure an easy win to gain bronze medals.
Netball
The Under 11 and the Under 10 Netball teams played their first Netball fixture this term against Packwood. They displayed excellent teamwork and skills for so early in the term to come away with dominant wins over Packwood.
Rugby
The Under 11 and 10 Rugby teams welcomed Packwood for an afternoon of rugby, both contact and touch. The games were played in great spirit with fantastic tries and tackling on display.
Our Under 8 tag and Under 9 contact rugby teams enjoyed great success at Packwood Rugby Festival. The teams played with great skill and determination while representing the school fantastically. Well done!
