Sports Round-up

The final two weeks of term have seen a range of impressive team and individual sports achievements by our pupils.

Old Hall runners performed brilliantly representing their clubs at the Cross Country County Championships at Concord College at the weekend. Congratulations to Lila - Under 11 girls first placed team winners and Toby - Under 11 boys second placed team with Wrekin Harriers, and to Jack - Under 11 first place boys team winners with Shrewsbury Athletics.

Huge congratulations to pupils Arlo and Zak for their recent achievements in the swimming pool. Their journey began at the IAPS qualifiers, up to 4500 swimmers compete with only the top 20 achieving qualification, which both Arlo and Zak did. This is an impressive achievement to qualify for the national finals to compete against the best in the country, and testament to their hard work in the pool.

The Under 9 girls football team travelled to Ludlow for their Shropshire semi-final football match. The girls played with great intensity and skill and won the match. They are now in the final, a brilliant achievement for the team.

In a thrilling Shropshire Schools semi-final clash, Old Hall edged out St Andrews on penalties after a tense 2-2 draw. The match, played with intensity and passion, saw our team dominate possession for large spells, but St Andrews’ resilient defending kept them in the contest. In the shootout, Old Hall kept their nerve, converting four of their spot-kicks, while St Andrews managed just two. The victory secures our place in the Shropshire Schools final!

The Under 11 boys enjoyed a great afternoon representing Shropshire in the Regional Hockey Finals in Nottingham. There was strong competition but the team played brilliantly, showing great determination and skill along the way.
