Wrekin Prep's First Swimming Championships

On Saturday 20th June Wrekin Prep have got a team into the National English School Relay Championships in Sheffield and it’s being live streamed! So if anyone is interested tune in to www.youtube.com/@englishschoolsswimming, races start at 1.00pm

It’s an exceptional achievement for us to qualify against all the best swimming schools  across the country so let’s go Zak, Georgia, Charles, Fliss, and Kitty; we know you will be representing Wrekin Prep proudly! 

The Wrekin Prep Swimming Championships provided an exciting afternoon of racing, with pupils demonstrating exceptional effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Pupils competed for points across a range of disciplines, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly over 25m and 50m distances. The event also featured an Individual Medley race for the top six swimmers in Years 5 and 6, adding an extra level of challenge and excitement to the championships.

Competition was fierce across all age groups, with some truly outstanding performances on display. A particular highlight was the setting of three new school records. Joshua broke the Under 9 Boys' records in both the 25m Freestyle and 25m Butterfly, while Kitty set a new Under 11 Girls' record in the 100m Individual Medley. These are fantastic achievements and a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Adding to an already successful week of swimming, a huge congratulations goes to Kitty, who represented Wrekin Prep at the National IAPS Swimming Finals held at the prestigious London Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

Competing against some of the best young swimmers in the country, Kitty produced a huge personal best in the 50m Freestyle, improving on her qualifying position of 14th to finish an outstanding 10th overall in the country. Her impressive time of 34.26 seconds also secured her place in the final, marking a remarkable achievement on the national stage.

This success is a testament to years of dedication, hard work and focus in the pool. We are incredibly proud of Kitty's achievement and look forward to seeing how her swimming journey continues in the years ahead.

A huge well done to every pupil who took part in the Wrekin Prep Swimming Championships. The enthusiasm, commitment and support shown throughout the afternoon made the event a memorable occasion and a wonderful celebration of swimming at Wrekin Prep.
