Under 14 Boys Crowned Midlands Hockey Champions
The Under 14 Boys Hockey Team have been crowned Tier 2 Midlands Champions following a superb performance at the Midlands Finals held at Nottingham Hockey Centre.
The team were outstanding throughout the tournament, progressing through the group stages unbeaten and without conceding a single goal. Their impressive form set up a thrilling semi-final clash with King Henry VIII School. After an intense, end-to-end contest finished 0–0, the match was decided by penalties. Holding their nerve under pressure, the boys converted three excellent penalties, while the Wrekin goalkeeper produced two crucial saves to secure their place in the final.
In the final against Queen Mary’s, the team delivered one of their strongest performances of the season. A disciplined and determined display saw them claim a well-earned 1–0 victory and the title of Midlands Champions.
Director of Hockey, Mr Walker, praised the squad’s achievement:
“We are incredibly proud of the boys. Not only are they Midlands Champions, but they did not concede a single goal across seven matches. That is a huge credit to the discipline and work rate they showed throughout the tournament.”
The team now progress to the National Finals at the end of March. The whole Wrekin community is immensely proud of their achievement and looks forward to following their journey at Nationals.
