Wrekin Prep Sport Round-Up

It has been another busy and exciting fortnight of sport at Wrekin Prep, with pupils demonstrating tremendous skill, determination and teamwork across football, rugby and PE.

Football

Under 11 Girls – Tournament Success
What a fantastic tournament for the Under 11 Girls’ Football team. The squad topped their group with confident, organised performances and remained defensively outstanding throughout the competition.

After a brilliant and closely fought semi-final, the team were narrowly beaten on penalties. Showing great character, they bounced back to win the 3rd/4th place play-off, finishing the tournament on a high.

Remarkably, the team did not concede a single goal in 60 minutes of open play across the day; a superb achievement. Skill, resilience and teamwork were on display throughout, and the girls represented themselves and the school superbly.

Under 10 Girls – Semi-Final Heartbreak
The Under 10 Girls produced a dominant and spirited performance in their semi-final, controlling large periods of the game and creating numerous chances. Despite their efforts, a late goal three minutes from time saw them narrowly defeated 2–1. Although the result did not go their way, the girls showed exceptional teamwork, resilience and determination throughout. It was a performance full of promise and pride, and they should be incredibly proud of their efforts.

Under 11 Girls vs Kings Hawford

It was a wonderful afternoon of football as Kings Hawford travelled to Wrekin Prep for an Under 11 girls’ fixture. With over 30 girls involved across two matches, it was fantastic to see such strong participation and enthusiasm. Both games were played in excellent spirit, with players demonstrating growing confidence, strong teamwork and great sportsmanship. It was particularly pleasing to see the girls applying the skills developed in lessons and supporting one another throughout.

Rugby

Year 3 & 4 Boys
It was a busy and exciting afternoon of rugby for our Year 3 and 4 boys, with every pupil given the opportunity to represent Wrekin Prep. Over 30 boys took part in a series of matches filled with enthusiasm, skill and plenty of tries. The teamwork, effort and sportsmanship on display were outstanding, making it a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all involved.

PE Spotlight

Year 3 Gymnastics
As part of their PE curriculum, Year 3 pupils have been exploring the gymnastic apparatus, developing strength, balance and coordination.

It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they challenge themselves with new skills and demonstrate growing confidence and teamwork. The progress made over the past few weeks has been fantastic; well done, Year 3.
