York Crowned Winners of Junior House Debating Competition
A closely contested competition concludes with a high-quality and thought-provoking final
This year’s Junior House Debating Competition concluded with an engaging and intellectually stimulating final, as York faced Bayley following an exceptionally close series of earlier rounds.
Such was the high standard across all houses that scores were extremely tight, requiring a playoff to determine the finalists. Congratulations to all three houses involved for delivering thoughtful, well-constructed arguments throughout.
Bayley secured their place in the final after a hard-fought playoff, where they met York to debate the motion: “This House believes that ignorance is sometimes preferable to truth.”
Both houses delivered impressive performances, demonstrating confidence, clarity of thought, and strong public speaking skills. In the end, York produced an outstanding debate to secure the win and be crowned this year’s champions!
